I can't do anything anyway. The FSBs are different. I'm going to find a 2.1Ghz processor on eBay for the D600 and that's about it.

I really like the D600 better than the D610, even with the slower FSB and reduced video performance. With both batteries in a D600 I get 8+ hours, only 5.5 with the D610.

I'd toss them both out the window if Dell had a D620 with a higher resolution screen than 1200x800 on it. Seems a waste IMHO. I want 1600x1050 at least!

I don't get your logic...

Your D610 has the fastest processor out of what you have in total. You should consolidate the best components from the D600 and D610 and build a "super" D610.

What I mean is put in maximum RAM, largest hard drive, optional wireless miniPCI card, optional Bluetooth module, etc.

The D620 does have a higher resolution screen available (1440x900)

I don't see why everyone's crazy about high resolution displays on your laptop.

If you have one of those widescreen 17-inch laptops, you might as well carry a much more powerful desktop with an LCD display under your arm.

If you have a normal-sized laptop (i.e. 14 or 15-incher), having a higher resolution display makes all your text tiny. If you squint for long enough, you WILL wear glasses one day.

True multitasking in terms of desktop space is with dual displays, not a physically tiny display with very high resolution!

If you want to bump up the 600, put a Dothan processor in it with 2MB L2.

I already wear glasses/contacts and I think you would be hard pressed to find someone that works daily with computers that does not wear some sort of corrective lenses.

I have 1400x1050 on my D600 and D610 and to go to anything less than that would be counterproductive in my opinion. The size of the D600 especially is nice. The D620 is great with the fingerprint reader and widescreen. I'd love to go that way, but considering the DPI on my current laptops and the DPI on the D620...it's just out of wack.

It was a generalization. I work in an office with 11 people, 10 of which wear contacts or glasses.

I've had a computer for 23 years. My eyes are perfect still.

What about displays?  Can I swap a 1400x1050 from a D600 with a 1024x768 from a D610 and have both systems work when I'm done?

Can I upgrade the CPU and cache on my Dell Latitude D600?

The system will take only Pentium -M  or Celeron M CPUs - and ONLY with a 400 MHz   bus (it won't take any with 533 or faster  bus speeds).
