Hi Jbrehm87,

Below is the memory specifications of the Studio 1535 tested at Dell:

  • Memory module connector: Two user-accessible SODIMM connectors
  • Memory module capacities: 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB
  • Memory type: 800 MHz SODIMM DDR2
  • Minimum memory: 512 MB (single channel)
  • Maximum memory: 4 GB (dual channel 2G x2)

The maximum memory tested was 2x2GB for this system.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help Nikhil! I'm disappointed I can't upgrade my RAM anymore than it currently is, but maybe now I can go get myself a new computer soon.

I realize I am about a year late, but I was looking to increase the RAM  of my Studio also and came across your question. Yes you can go up to 8G. I went up to 6G a few years ago. I bought another 4G a few days ago and just added it. My computer recognizes it and everything. If you haven't bought the new laptop already, you can by 4G at Amazon or where ever...

Thanks for the quick response! Unfortunately, crucial.com only carries RAM up to 2x2GB for the Studio 1535. I'm pretty sure there's 2x4GB or 2x8GB on that site that aren't specifically mentioned that would work fine for my laptop, but I just don't know which ones they are.

It'll be trial and error - you  may or may not get 8G to work;  the system is spec'd for 4G max.

I'm just curious if you can install 64 bit OS on the DELL Studio 1535? I know mine has Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T9300, but not sure if it was somehow fixed to 32 bit. Please let me know.

Thanks.

All Core 2 Duo CPUs support EM64T so yes, a 64-bit OS will run fine.

DDR-2 1.8 V, 2X2 = 4G max.

These are so hard to find! I was able to install a 64 bit OS on this machine, would love to get more RAM to see if it works. BTW, what's the difference between PC2-5400 and PC2-5300 and which one should I get?

Thanks for all the help.
