Video tdr failure atikmpag.sys Error and blue dots

Hello,

I have Inspiron 15R N5010, I installed windows 8.1 and updated the ATI graphics. First all went right and used for about 3 months but suddenly some day an error came Video tdr failure atikmpag.sys blue screen appeared and upon restart blue stripes appeared and again blue error. I restored my system to factory state but the error keeps coming. In safe mode I uninstalled ATI driver and using my laptop on VGA adapter.

Guys need ur help.

I'm having the same issue, but with an nvidia quadro card...

Everything was fine...  until BSODs started to come...  a lot of them.

After two weeks of having an un-usable computer, it normalized and did not see any other BSOD for two months...

Until yesterday, after some windows updates, the BSODs started to come again, in minutes.

I called Dell Support, and basically they were not able to help me in any way.

Run the system in safe mode (F8 before Windows loads) -- if the blue screens cease, you likely have a video card or chip that's beginning to fail.

That is the problem, it won´t happen in Safe Mode because I have Optimus and it will use the integrated card.

The problem only occurs when I have the other screens connected in the docking station.

See if lowering the output resolution reduces or eliminates the problem - if it does, it's a pretty good sign the video card is on its way out.

atikmpag.sys error is most probably your graphic card that is causing the error. My suggestion to you would be to update the graphic drivers.  Press Win Key+R and write devmgmt.msc. Click on display adapters and then go to the adapter you have, right click on it and press uninstall. Now go to the webpage of your graphic card and dowload the graphic driver as per your system model number. This should solve your problem. appuals.com/.../
