You may not need the webcams specific drivers. Like in vista there are some standard drivers for webcams in the hardware installed wizard try using one of thoes for your laptop's webcam.

That is what I did when I had to reinstall my OS on my vostro 1500

I downloaded the drivers from www.sonix.com.tw for Sonix SN9C230 webcam but when I try to install them I get an error message telling me the webcam isn't connected. Wasn't it supposed to be connected by default? How do I connect my webcam since it's integrated?

I have no clue, but it is not intergrated, it is connected by a wire into a port. This is all contained inside the LCD beezel. Although it might have come disconnected or broken, however this is mostly unlikely.

Go to Dell.com, Support, drivers, select laptop vostro 1510, in drivers, input device drivers, download and install -liteOn driver- if your webcam is like my webcam, sincerely yours,

I just bought a Vostro 1510 and installed Windows Vista 32-bit...

I installed the drivers on the CD it came with, I even tried the ones I found on the Dell website...

Did the laptop have Vista pre-installed when you bought it, or have you upgraded it from XP by choice?

Only... if it had Windows XP pre-installed initially... that'll be the reason the drivers from the CD don't work?

It doesn't explain why the Vista drivers won't install though?

Was it the chipset drivers you downloaded/tried installing?
