Vostro 1520 BIOS Update problem - incorrect ROM size
I just downloaded the A08 BIOS Update, V1520A08-32_64.exe, for my Vostro 1520, which currently runs A05 and XP SP3. When clicking it on my desktop, I get a warning "The szie of the ROM file is incorrect!" (NB The typo is in the warning message.) I've tried booting to Safe Mode, to no effect. Searching for this error on the Dell site gives no results.
Any thoughts?

Hi Mary G
I've checked this is the correct download, downloaded twice, kept the original file name, followed the instructions - download to desktop/double click. The executable successfully loads files/folders into C:|Windows\TEMP\WINPHLASH, but then gives the warning and stops.
The update is very recent - 3/19/2010. I'm wondering if it is faulty.
How can I access versions A06/A07, to at least update that far? (No prior versions are listed in the Drivers and Downloads page.)
I've added a tiny Acronis partition into the C Drive - might this have caused a problem?

ROM means read only media. I would guess the download was corrupted during the download. Delete it and download again. Be very sure you are downloading the correct file for your model and setup. Read all the info on the download page--why you need this, who should install it, what OS it applies to, how to install. If you are not having any trouble, skip the bios update. Make sure you are using the adapter and not in danger of any power interruption if you do update the bios. You could ruin your motherboard if the update is interrupted or fails for other reasons.

Update
Indeed, "Other Versions" of the BIOS update are available via the current (A08) download page - A07 (A06 is missing for some reason).
Unfortunately, running this file gives the same result, the files unpack to C:\WINDOWS\Temp\WINPHLASH, but the Warning message appears.
Any thoughts out there on the additional/new partition?

SOLVED
I went into C:\WINDOWS\Temp\WINPHLASH, opened the folder "winphlash 1.6.9.9", clicked on WinPhlash.exe, selected C:\WINDOWS\Temp\WINPHLASH\HPBA08.ROM as the "new BIOS file", selected "Backup BIOS and Flash BIOS with new settings", and ran "Flash BIOS".
It worked "as advertised".
