Where to find system specifications - a simple list of current hardware.

Hello

I just bought an XPS 17 L702x from Dell Outlet.  The system came configured and I only know the basics.  I've been trying with customer support and they've been contradicting what they say.  One said I don't have bluetooth, but my computer actually does.  One said I don't have 4 memory slots, but Speccy (a diagnostic software) says I do.

All I want is a SIMPLE explanation of my hardware specs, similar to what one sees when one configures the computer at Dell.com.  Instead, I get the list posted at the end when I enter my service tag.  It's a useless list of internal codes that tells me NOTHING about what I really want to know.

Is there an easy way or place online to find this?  I already know to go to Computer>Properties, but that isn't enough.   It won't tell me  if I have a 3D capable screen, if my graphics card come with Optimus, how many memory slots I actually have.  A general spec sheet won't help with this.

Anybody know the answer?  Please help.

Thanks,

Tien

You can use SIW Standalone Version to find all of your hardware/software installed in your system.
It's free.

I don't think you have 4 memory slots.
This line leads me to believe that you do not:
7F99P SERVICE INSTALL MODULE..., SOFTWARE..., WIDI, INTEL..., L702X

The big thing about  the XPS L702X is if it has 3D or not.

There are four system boards available for the XPS 17 (L702X) and they are:

  1. Non 3D, 1 gb video ram, 2 dimm slots
  2. 3D, 1 gb video ram, 2 dimm slots
  3. Non 3D, 3 gb video ram, 2 dimm slots
  4. 3D, 3 gb video ram, 4 dimm slots

The 3D systems are not Optimus systems and do not have WIDI support.
Only the 3D system with the 3gb video card has 4 dimm slots

By the way, I think your system does have blue tooth.

According to this, I BELIEVE (not fact) that you have a Bluetooth device.

I interpret this line to meant that a module along with the software was installed for a wireless card with Bluetooth.
