i replaced my old HDD (Samsung) with SSD (Samsung 850 EVO) in notebook Precision M4300 (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS). BIOS didn´t recognize SSD disk. I uprgrated BIOS from ver. A13 to ver. A15. BIOS stil don´t recognize SSD after upgrade.
In first time i thought it is joke. But i tryed and SSD strarted work. Very very Thanx.
I have one quastions yet. I would like to repalced my DVD RW/ROM in my laptop with my old HDD. But DVD drive had other interface then internal box for HDD (Evolve , Akasa). I am not sure, but i thing than my DVD drive has SCSI interface.

There might be a connectivity problem due to the thickness of the SSD (6.8 mm vs. 9.5 mm for standard HDDs).
Try padding the SSD with some folded paper or something similar. That helped in my case.

Sorry, I don't have any specific knowledge or experience with that.

You will need something like

to mount the drive in the optical bay.
