I checked and there are no settings in the BIOS to disable the Ambient Sensor. There is a method in Windows to do so but from your message I understand that you may have already tried this.

Windows 8

  1. Press the Windows () key + C to open your Charms..

  2. Select the Settings charm, and then click Change PC settings..

  3. Tap or click on General.

  4. Locate Adjust my screen brightness automatically. If this setting is not present, your device is not equipped with a light sensor.

  5. Tap to slide the slider under this option to On or Off depending on your preference.

    Windows 8.1

  1. Press the Windows () key + C to open your Charms..

  2. Select the Settings charm, and then click Change PC settings..

  3. Tap or click on PC and devices, then select Power and sleep.

  4. Locate Adjust my screen brightness automatically. If this setting is not present, your device is not equipped with a light sensor.

Tap to slide the slider under this option to On or Off depending on your preference

Please let me know if you have already done this before or not and if it was of any help.

Thanks for your response Terry. I tried that and it didn't work. Can you think of anything else? This is getting sort of annoying, so anything you can think of to fix it would be great. Thanks.

That is the only way that I know to change the ambient light sensor settings.

You can try messing with the brightness settings in the BIOS.  Press Win key + C to open the charms, click settings, click change PC settings, choose General and then Advanced startup.  Or you can hold the shift key while restarting the system to enter the boot menu.  Once in the boot menu choose BIOS, and then under settings, video, adjust LCD brightness.

You also can take a look at the Intel HD graphics, just right click on the screen and choose Intel Graphic properties bring up the Intel HD graphics control panel. Play with the color enhancement settings under Display. Click on the Video box and click Advanced and turn color correction on and off and see if that helps.

There are a lot of settings here so it may take a little tweaking. But you should be configure the display to your liking.
