Why so many firmware upgrades?

I have an XPS 13 (9350) and the Dell support assistant is very convenient for upgrades - but I think it's more than a little strange that there's an 'urgent' firmware upgrade every 2-3 months. Dell please tell me why are there such frequent changes to the bios? I am surprised this is the case with something like a bios.  Thanks

Madtown Tom,

Bios updates are created to fix and add support for various devices or to fix an issue that could be causing problems.

Thanks for the reply. I am aware of why Bios updates are performed. My question was why so often. I am surprised to see them the number of updates over a short period of time. I assumed by this time Dell would have fairly perfected a Bios version but apparently not.

Quite a few technologies in that system are relatively new and some are not mature  -- USB 3.1, UEFI, NVMe, chipset -- and the OS running is also relatively new.  Combine that with the blurred lines between firmware and software that come with UEFI (vs legacy BIOS) and you have a recipe for frequently needed updates.
