Power down your PDC. Hold F12 at the Dell BIOs screen and select Diagnostics. Run them, you may need to replace your hard drive soon.

PC not PDC as I typed in error before.

If the hard disc is failing you will need to replace it, there is no other way about it. It is actually quite easy to do.

Verify first using the Dell Diagnostics  as mentioned above and also in the PC Checkup in Dell Support Centre.

If you have an external hard drive copy all the files from Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos, Downloads, Favourites and Desktop that you want to keep to the external.

Run Belarc Advisor and save a PDF print out to an external hard drive using CutePDF Writer.

You will need a 2.5" SATA Laptop Harddrive. You may get a 500 GB one from Dell here or amazon here. Full instructions in harddrive removal/replacement may be found in the Service Manual. Once the new harddrive is installed you will need to reinstall Windows. I have wrote an in depth guide which tells you what you need to do.

Its physical damage to the drive. Not really an easy way for the end user to remove them.

hi,

this is a follow up on what "natakuc4" has suggested but i am giving u a better way to do it.

open my computer >> right click on your "C:/" drive >> go to "Tools" tab >> under "error-checking" press "check now" >> accept any administrative prompt that might show up >> a small window opens up and has 2 boxes for 2 check marks. check both  "Automatically fix file system errors"  and  "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" >> press "start" >> it will most probably tell you that the disk is being used and will ask you to schedule a scan. press "schedule disk check". now shutdown your laptop and power it up again without hitting any function keys and it should present u with a blue DOS like sreen for error checking. let it do its magic and hopefully that fixes your problem.

hope i helped :)

Software diagnostics do not fix physically bad drives.  You must replace it.

There are two main reasons to this error message:

Hard drive failure and system problem. thus, you need to make out the real reason and then you can fix it quickly.

Note: backup important data to another drive before starting any other operations.

1. check hard drive health condition with command prompt. Chldsk is able to check bad sector and file system errors.

2. perform system restore. im some cases, system restore may stop the error message from popping up. Hope you have a system backup.

Note: if hard disk does have problem, and chkdsk fails to repair it. Then you need to condiser changing a new drive for your PC.

Do not ignore the error "Windows detected a hard disk problem", as it involves data security.

In case you are seeing that botch it's possible the circle is missing the mark in spite of the way that it appears, from every angle, to be working OK. The circle itself and Windows both endeavor to recognize and actually repair botches. In case Windows is seeing bungles it infers the circle can no more repair them. There are distinctive reasons why this goof may show up yet you should test the circle ASAP. You should similarly guarantee that any vital data on the plate is went down. The tablet may have went with a task to test the hardware. If not endeavor this framework.
