I ran windows 8 compatibility test on my studio 1555... there are issues with Bluetooth and Ati HD 4570...

I have checked the official dell page... but drivers are not available for Windows 8 Pro 64bit...

Other models have got the update... Y such a discrimination...

Please update complete driver package for the same...

Hi,

Dell has not tested Studio 1555 with Windows 8. For more information on this you can check the link:http://dell.to/RyY54k  Drivers for Studio 1555 are available on the support website for Windows XP, Vista and 7. You can try installing the drivers compatible with Windows 7 that might work.

To uninstall and re install the drivers:

  • Click on “Start” and right click on “Computer”.
  • Click on “Manage”.
  • Click on “Device Manager”.
  • Under “Display adapters”, you will find the video driver listed.
  • Right click on it and click on “uninstall”. (Check and make a note of the driver installed on your system and re-install the driver from the below steps accordingly).
  • Check the box to delete the software.
  • Restart your system and click on the below link: http://dell.to/TW3GQI
  • Click on “Download File”.
  • Select “For Single File Download via Browser”.
  • Click on “Download Now”.
  • Save the driver on your desktop.
  • Once the driver is saved on the desktop, Right Click the driver installation file and select Properties -- > Compatibility Tab -- >Select Windows 7.
  • Click Apply -- > OK.
  • Right Click the file and select the ‘Run as Administrator’ option to install.
  • Restart your computer.

Studio 1555 is shipped with 370 bluetooth card. You can install the driver in compatibility mode from the link:  http://dell.to/Sg47qZ  Save the folder (zipped folder) on the 'Desktop screen' and follow the steps below:

- Double-click the new icon on the desktop labeled R226750.exe
- The Self-Extracting window appears and prompts you to extract or unzip to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R226750

Note: Path may vary depending on the folder where you are extracting the drivers. In case it is different, please make a note of that and then proceed accordingly.

- Click Ok
- After completing the file extraction, if the Self-Extractor window is still open, close it
- Open the following path: C:\dell\Drivers\R226750\Win64

Note: The steps listed below are based on assumption that Windows 64 bit version is installed in your laptop; please open Win32 folder if Windows 32 bit is installed in your system.

- Click 'Computer' and drive letter 'C'
- Locate folder 'dell' and double click it
- Locate folder 'Drivers' and double click it
- Locate folder 'R226750'
- Locate folder 'Win64' and double click it
- Locate file Inst (Refer to the image below)

- Right click file 'Inst'
- Click 'Run as an administrator'
- Click 'Yes' to continue if prompted with 'User access control' message
- Follow through with the installation as per the screen instructions
- Finish the installation and check for the Bluetooth functionality

If issue persists, try using the 'setup' file to install drivers in compatibility mode (Next Step)

- Install 'Setup.exe' file in 'compatibility Mode'
- Navigate to C:\dell\Drivers\R226750\Win64
- Right click ‘Setup’ file and click ‘Properties’
- Click “Install in compatibility mode’
- Click on Application and select ‘Troubleshoot Compatibility’
- Next, click on ‘Troubleshoot Program’
- Click on Program worked in earlier versions of Windows
- Click on ‘Windows 7’
- Click on ‘Start the Program’
- Do not hit ‘Next’ until the installation completes
- Once the installation completes, click on ‘Next’ and follow prompts.

Please reply in case you have further questions.

This is a 4 year old thread that link has been removed...

First ensure your Legacy BIOS is up to date at A13:

http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/updating-the-bios/

There is no point installing Windows 8.1 on this system when you can install Windows 10 TH2 for free by using the Windows 7 OEM license and directly clean installing. This system will have a Legacy BIOS so make the Bootable USB using the MBR partition scheme for Legacy BIOS:

Alternatively if you have already bought a Windows 8.1 Retail license for this system you can clean install with it following the same instructions above. If you only have a Windows Vista OEM license and didn't take the 6 months offer to get Windows 7 for free use the unofficial 10130 upgrade path:

http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/windows-xpvista-%e2%86%92-windows-10-free-upgrade/

Drivers wise Windows 10 TH2 should have almost all of them inbuilt or obtain them automatically from Windows Update. You may wish to install the Windows 7 version of Dell Quickset and the Ricoh Card Reader however:

http://downloads.dell.com/published/pages/studio-1555.html

Touchpad wise force install the latest Synaptics Driver using the Device Manager. See here:
