I am using McAfee AV.
I would like to share an interesting observation here. Last evening (IST), I was able to connect to the modem. However, when I tried to connect to modem now, I am unable to find the same in the list of available networks. This is highly surprising that the same modem is visible sometimes and sometimes not.
Hit the Windows key and the x keys at the same time, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your network adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.
Thanks for your wonderful support. I really appreciate your in-depth resolution process. I tried all the steps described by you. However, first I would like to clarify. While I was unable to connect to the network earlier in the day, I could connect to the Modem easily now.
The output of Network Interface from another laptop is as below:
Name : Wireless Network Connection
Description : Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n
GUID : eb608fc4-9212-4075-9107-e5533a68bc07
Physical address : 20:10:7a:39:5b:52
State : connected
SSID : DLink_WLan
BSSID : c4:a8:1d:e1:7b:25
Network type : Infrastructure
Radio type : 802.11n
Authentication : WPA2-Personal
Cipher : CCMP
Connection mode : Profile
Channel : 10
Receive rate (Mbps) : 72
Transmit rate (Mbps) : 72
Signal : 72%
Profile : DLink_WLan
Hosted network status : Not available
I performed all other steps as described by you. I do have one question. The radio on my modem is configured for 802.11 b/g/n. During the configuration of the network adapter, I saw one option as Adhoc 11n which was disable. I have now turned it to Enable.
Some adapters work best on channels 1, 6 or 11. Channel 11 gives the best results.
Some adapters have problems connecting with AES security. If possible to select both, but you can try TKIP(Personal) Security, the adapter will probably connect.
You may have to make a new SSID so the other devices can connect. They will try to connect to the other type of security(if you did not select both AES and TKIP Security)
If you make a system restore point, the remove McAfee, using the McAfee Removal Tool then restart your computer, see if you can connect. If you can connect, then reinstall McAfee and see if you can still connect.
Thanks for your suggestions. The channel is currently in Auto Scan mode. Also, the security is TKIP + AES already. I have the choices of AES only or TKIP + AES and I have chosen the later.

Ganesh,
Your adapter works on 2.4GHz ONLY. Can you run Network Interface on one of the Windows systems that is connecting and post that information back here.
Read post 5 at https://community.mcafee.com/message/224737 This should get to your firewall settings and allow the connection.
Try these tweaks....

Ganesh,
Try changing the router to channel 1, 6 or 11. I prefer channel 11 for the best results.
Also change the router from WPA2-AES to WPA2-PSK(TKIP) Security(Personal)
