XP Driver for Broadcom bcm4306kf8 wireless card

Hi. I have a Dell Latitude D505 which I have just acquired. It has a Broadcom bcm4306kf8 wireless card in it but I can't find a driver on the Dell site - I am using Windows XP Pro or any mention of this card and it doesn't appear in the list of drivers for my service tag. Can anybody please where I might be able to download a suitable driver for this without having to download lots of other unwanted software. Additionally should this laptop have this card in it or does it use an Intel driver maybe?. I have tried  Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Latitude D505 is offered with the following Wireless Options:

  1. Intel 2100 Pro MiniPCI NIC
  2. True Mobile 1300, 1400 MiniPCI NIC
  3. Bluetooth Daughter Card

As you mentioned you have “Broadcom bcm4306kf8 wireless card” in your machine, there is a possibility a mini-PCI card was added to the machine. I would request you to reply with the Device Instance ID of the wireless card. To get the device instance ID:

  1. Press the Windows + R key on the keyboard to launch the “Run” dialog box.
  2. Type “devmgmt.msc” and hit “Enter”.
  3. “Device Manager” window will open.
  4. Open the “Network Adapters”.
  5. Click the “Details” tab.
  6. Select Device Instance Path or Device Instance Id (whichever is available for your version of Windows) from the drop down box.
  7. In your reply please add the Device Instance Path or Device Instance Id so that I can find the drivers for you.

Thanks so much for your rapid response. The device instance ID is as follows :

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4320&SUBSYS_00031028&REV_03\4&39A85202&0&18F0

Look forward to your reply
