XPS 12 9Q23 Keyboard Issues
Trying to solve a problem on friends Dell XPS 12 9Q23 laptop running windows 8.0.
Keyboard appears to be putting out wrong charecters, for example when I press lc 'u' nothing appears, when I press the lc 'p' 'ip'. When I press '¬' '~' appears, also Backspace key does not work, buy Delete key does. Also Spacebar does not work.
Have all Windows 8.0 and Dell updates installed, also have English Keyboard Layout installed.
This is driving me nuts!!!! Does the KB need replacing???
Any help, suggestions most welcome.

Hi Mike,
I would suggest you to try flashing the BIOS on the system. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the operating system, and then download the BIOS from the BIOS section onto the system and install it.

Also, please connect an external USB keyboard to the system and check if it works correctly.

Hi Ravi,
Tried external USB KB and works fine.
Flashed the BIOS but same problem with Internal KB.
Also update chipset(noit associated with issues I think) as Dell support site said to do it. But problerm still the same.
Sometimes when a reboot is done the PC beeps and when I get into it, the letter lc 'u' is constantly being output into every text field for example if I open text pad lots of u appearing till i reboot and then steady, but u key does not work.
Do you think the internal KB is defective?
Is there a way of checking it further?
