XPS 12 9Q33 touchscreen issue

Hi everyone,

I have recently purchased the Dell XPS 12 9Q33 device but have an issue with the touchscreen where it sometimes doesn't respond when coming out sleep mode.  The only way to get the touchscreen to respond again is to un-install the drivers from device manager, re-scan, and let the drivers install again.

The device has all the latest drivers available from the Dell website installed but this issue still occurs.  I have just today updated the BIOS from A02 to A03 to see if that makes any difference so will report back if it does.

Has anyone else expereinced this issue?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Hi Sinnottg,

Please share the operating system installed.

As you have mentioned you have already updated the bios version, please install and update the latest chipset drivers from the link http://dell.to/1eOONIX.

  • Click “Download File” and save the file on desktop.
  • Run the downloaded file and restart the system for the changes to take effect.

Please update the video drivers as well. Refer to the link http://dell.to/1a47jbj

  • Click “Download File” and save the file on desktop.
  • Run the downloaded file and restart the system for the changes to take effect.

If the issue still persists, recalibrate the touch screen. Here are the steps:

  • Select the Settings menu from the charms.
  • Select Control Panel from the Settings menu.
  • Click Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input.
  • On the following screen tap the cross hair each time it appears on screen and save the calibration settings.

Please check for functionality.

Hope this helps!

Keep me posted. I’ll be glad to assist.

Hi Garima G,

The OS is Windows 8.

Thank you for the quick response.  I have just installed the video drivers but already had the latest chipset drivers installed and will calibrate the screen should the issue re-occur.

I will keep you posted with the results.

Speak soon.

Update...

The wireless also fails when the device comes out of sleep mode, even though it says its still "Connected".  Disconnecting and re-connecting the wireless does not resolve the issue.  Un-installing and re-installing the drivers does resolve the issue!

Hi Sinnottg,

Please try working in safe mode with networking and observe the touchscreen and wireless behavior once the computer comes out of sleep mode. You may refer to the link http://dell.to/1aDRYCx on how to log on to safe mode with networking in windows 8.

Also, please share if there are any peripherals like printer or scanner or flash drive is connected with the system.

Please attach the screenshot of the device manager with the network adapters and the fields with the yellow exclamation mark, expanded. Here are the steps:

  •  Press ‘Windows’ key + R on ‘Desktop’ screen
  •  Type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in run box and press ‘Enter’
  •  Click > or + sign next to ‘Network Adapter’ and the HID device in Device Manager to expand the options.

Awaiting your response.

Thanks GARIMA G, I will try the above and let you know how I get on.  Sorry for the late reply, this had to be put on hold for a bit.  Back on it now.
