Are you sure it does "nothing"? If you open up MS paint or word, if you press print screen then go to one of those two programs and press crlt+v (or right click and press paste) - does it work?
Similar issue with Alienware R3; FN + Print screen opened up a One Drive box (Clicked ok). It then saved a Print screen to file, but I could also Ctrl V to paste it into paint. Alt + PtrScrn was basically home web site for Windows Edge. I am using Windows 10, but figure very similar responses.
I have same issue With Alienware R13... All I could come up with is FN Key + Print screen. One drive came up and then noted it will be saved as a file to One Drive. It then can also be pasted into Pain. I'm using Windows 10, but assume similar thing for Windows 8.

No, it does not paste anything in Paint or any other software.

Exact same question here, except running Windows 10.
