XPS 15z Trackpad not working properly
Good afternoon everyone,
I know there have been threads concerning the XPS 15z trackpad, but as far as I've read, I didn't encounter my problem, so I'm creating a new thread.
Basically, this is my problem:
The trackpad is enabled, and i can use the two buttons for left and right clicking. I can also scroll and zoom in using the trackpad, but, for a reason that eludes me completely, I can't use the trackpad as a mouse (as in, move the cursor on the screen). I try to move the cursor, but it stays in place.
I'm almost certain it's something ridiculously simple but I can't find out what.
For more details:
- I'm using Windows 7 Professional SP1;
- in the "Cypress Trackpad Settings" i have trackpad and trackpad buttons enabled;

Hi,
In this case you can try upgrading the BIOS drivers and trackpad drivers of the laptop
you can get the drivers from the www.support.dell.com.
Try that may be it can solve your problem.

Thanks for the suggestion!
I've updated the trackpad drivers, to no avail.
I've uninstalled the Cypress Trackpad from Device manager in Ctrl Panel and reinstalled it using the newest software from the dell.com website, still to no avail.
I don't think that I'll go around changing anything in the BIOS, so any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance!!!

Hi JanMoraru,
You may try running 'Diagnostics' on the 'Touchpad' to check if the hardware is failing. The following steps will help you in running the 'Diagnostics' on the 'Touchpad'.
Shut the system down, hold down the 'Fn'key and start the system. This will initiate the 'Diagnostics' and test most of the hardware components. Once complete, you will see the option to 'Continue' and 'Exit'. Select 'Exit' and press any key to continue. Select the option 'Test System' and then 'Custom Test'. You should see the page which lists all the hardware components on the system (check if the Touchpad works in this screen). Select 'Touchpad' from the menu and select 'Run Test'. Make a note of any errors during the test and reply to this post
You can also refer the following link for running the Diagnostics on the system.

I hope this helps
Please reply in case of any queries
Thanks and regards
