XPS M1710 Gen2 - Bios Problem
Hey All,
Can anyone help me with a problem, I have bought this unit as second hand, however some one has been tampering with it, the bios has been edited and as such I cannot undo whats been done. The CPU has been overclocked, I thought this might have been on the socket but it appears not, anyway I tried to flash the bios to A07 from A05 using the Dell bios update util only to get this message:
"
Unable to determine the revision of teh current MEC boot block code, flash update can be done from XP only with Bios revisions 2397 and newer"
I have tried also to flash A05, A06 and I get the same message. I have been reading about a Pheonix Crisis Recovery Disk, however in order to use it I need the A05/A06/A07 .wph file to utilise this and attempt to recover the orignal bios. In case I am going in the wrong direction with this, has anyone see this message before or can offer some advice on 1) Recovering/Updating the bios 2) Return the processor to its correct speed.
Cheers
Matt
