XPS M1730 Video Card Upgrades

I have a Dell XPS M1730 (Listed in the signature) and I want to upgrade the video cards. I can find no absolute answers on which NVidia cards will fit/function in this machine. I'm more than confident in my ability to physically change the cards, what I am looking for is confirmation that a newer card will fit and function.

I would like to put in a pair of NVidia 460M's if possible, or find a published list of cards above the 9800GT's I have in there that will work. In a worst case scenario, I'd at least like to find out if the 9800GT's are as far as I can go...

Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks!

What you now have is the top card made in a format that will fit this chassis.  You cannot upgrade further.

ejn63,

Thank you for the first and only straight answer I've gotten on this subject. Dell, NVidia, and countless others have been useless.

Thanks again.

It's hard to get info here or anywhere.. I had thought that the 9800GTX was a little faster than the 9800GT . I just got a fried video card in my SECOND M1730,tried the shake and bake ,method on my 8800GTXs.It worked but small fonts were fuzzy so I got an ebay new 9800GT.I was told that these cards have a much lower failure rate than the 8800s.Using a Cooler Master stand with extra fans helps too. When the M1730 is working well it's a treat,I'm able to play new titles like Bulletstorm,Dead Space 2, etc. Keep it cool....
