XPS with Windows XP?

I hope Dell will offer XPS M1530 with Windows XP (Pro or MCE).
In August I bought new laptop (Sony VAIO VGN-FZ140E) with Windows Vista Home Premium.
As much as I love the laptop, I'm totally disappointed with the newest OS from MS.

Are there any plans for Dell to release XPS notebooks with Windows XP?

I would buy XPS M1530 if offered.

Happy Holidays.

Hey there...

Saw your ad and had to respond.  As far as I know when I built my new XPS M1530 the only options it gave me was Vista home basic, premium, business.  If you were intersted in the operating program you could change it at anytime I believe but you would have to purchase and load it in manually.

If I saw XP I think I would have picked it.  I am not to fond of this new Vista thing.  I mean Im use to XP.  Honestly before this laptop I had a lowsy Inspiron 1501.  (Very Slow for editing, gaming, downloading and storing memory) I mean I wasnt to happy with the performance on this laptop because it was slow whenever I would start it up in the morning, I made sure that I defrag my computer and clean out my drive with any unecessary information.  And virus check it everyday and make sure my files were safe from hackers.  It still ran sloooooow.  I was very dissapointed...  SO when I created my new laptop I put in the best of the best for the fastest and greaaat performance.

So far... so GREAT!

Vista on the other hand it a really easy program to use.  I love it. It is different.  If you ask me it is like an updated version from the old.  They are trying it out to see if there would be any problems with it... I have noticed everywhere I go I only notice when you buy a computer is the operating system is Vista... unless you purchase this on your own and install it manually.

I hope this helps you with any questions you may have... I was only trying to help...

Thank you for your feedback HSFitness!

When it comes to Vista, yes it does have a pretty GUI.
However it's a memory hog, slow to boot up and of course has compatibility issues
with older program and applications.

It may not be fair, but Vista reminds me of Windows Me.
I think MS should reverse current trend of making bigger and bigger OS
(it now comes on DVD! what next Windows on HDDVD or BlueRay Disc),
instead offer slim down, fast booting, high performance OS. Let the user add and
pay for additional features as desired.

Unfortunately Microsoft with it's Windows product isn't the only one stuffing
the good, the bad and the ugly in bag, satellite and cable companies offer channel
packages full of useless TV. I wish I could select the channels I just want to watch
and pay for them, let's say $1 a piece. Got off topic here. Sorry.

Yes, I was thinkig about loading XP myself, but am concerned about being able to get
proper drivers and get all working right. And there is the warranty issue.

Greetings,
TS

Yes, I want an XPS M1330 with XP. I am not going to get anything with Vista.

I just returned a XPS M1330 because of problems with Vista. If Dell makes
this available in the near (and I mean near) future, I may not get a Thinkpad.
I don't understand why they don't sell this with XP until June at least - plus
they have posted all the necessary drivers on their web pages so the machine
can run with XP - unlike what some of the Dell techs were saying.

I had two Blue Screens of Death w/i a 24 hour period while the machine wasn't even being used.

It was just sitting on my desk idling when it crashed. No extra hardware installed,
and the only software installed was Firefox and Eclipse, and neither was running.

This happened on the 2nd day I had the machine. I spent nearly 6 hours (!!) on the
phone (and on-line) with dell the 3rd day and they could not determine the cause
nor offer a fix for the machine's inability to connect to my wireless signal.

I returned the machine .. this is unacceptable. I don't care that "everyone is having problems with Vista" (according to Dell tech). Sounds like "everyone else is beating their child" .. doesn't make it any more acceptable. I want to *use* my
computer, not spend time fixing it. Esp after spending $2600 on it.
Vista is not ready for prime time. Too bad a nice piece of hardware is crippled
by this and Dell's inexplicable refusal to offer XP with this until at least June (MS deadline).

Very disappointed ..

ps: Oh yea, while trying to diagnose my network problems the tech told me that Dell
doesn't support 128key encryption! .. either total B.S. (or even worse if this
was actually true)
