adjust display for outside use

When taking my Inspiron 8600 outdoors... I find it hard to view. Is there a way to adjust the monitor settings for outside use? As it is now -- I have to find a very shaded area to work in. Even then it's still combersome to use in a natural light setting.

Any ideas - would be helpful.

Make sure your brightness settings are all the way up in the bios pages using the Fn+up or down arrow feature it will only allow your display to go as bright as it is allowed in the bios pages. To make the changes in the bios pages reboot and continusly press F2 evry couple seconds. When the bios page pulls up on the bottom of your display there will be info on which keys to press to change pages navagate throughout the bios pages and make changes.Change pages untill you see brightness they will have the settings for when you are runing on AC and DC make your changes. I set both to max and i just use the Fn+up or down arrows to adjust my brightness then go to the last bios page and click apply changes. The reason they have this feature is mainly to have the option to conserve batery power when runing on DC. Hope this helps good luck
