car charger

Can anyone recommend a quality car charger for my 1525 inspiron laptop ?  I would also like to be able to use the laptop while charging. I really did not see one on Dell's website that was specific to my model. Thanks in advance.

You are going to need some sort of conversion whether DC to AC or DC to DC. So, you will have to move SOMETHING.

My Latitude 110L needs 19V @ 3.16A, so I would need a converter that converts 12V to 19V.

here's a manufacturer that sells DC to DC for Dells:  http://www.powerstream.com/ADC.htm

I am not sure I understand what you want.

Your laptop comes with an AC adapter to power the laptop from a wall outlet. If you want to power your laptop with the AC adapter while in your car, you can buy a DC-to-AC inverter box. I bought one from Cyberpower ( http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/products/accessories/acmobile-power.html ).

I would rather not buy an inverter..I know that they make a actual charger that plugs into a cig lighter...this is what im looking for since i will be using it in several different cars and moving an inverter is really not a convenient option for me.

I use a Kensington which is not an inverter (less power less heat) that also works with AC. You buy a tip for your specific computer. It also works on airplanes but I have not tried that.

Try Newegg. dave5's is cheaper.

Yes I understand that i need an inverter or transformer of some sort...I was just saying that  I do not want to use an Inverter that goes from 12V DC to 120 AC and then use my house charger in my car.  Thats exactly what I was looking for Dave 5 , thanks a lot. Thanks for all your answers

We own a Latitude E6410 and recently bought a CyberPower power inverter for the car (originally bought a 100 watt but upgraded to 400 watts).  Our Latitude will not charge on it. When you first connect the power, the laptop shows a little battery sign, but after a minute, that dissappears.  We have other laptops (and other electronics) that charge fine on the inverter (so it's not defective).  The Dell Latitude is the only one with an air card, so we need it on long trips.

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

If you are still using your genuine Dell AC adapter, it should work.

I have original everything and it is less than a year old and still "no go."  Our old Dell charged fine -- I think it has something to do with this computer.  Is there a way to determine that?

they make inverters for cig lighters but they will destroy your cig lighter which is why im at the dealer right now getting my cig lighters fixed. Use only a permanite inverter that is powered directly from you car battery
