From what you have described it does sound like a hardware problem (possibly caused by your LCD inverter board). Your system will likely need to be serviced to correct the issue.

To have service arranged if the system is under warranty, you can, 1) contact our Mobile Computing Hotline at 800-822-8965 for Corporate/Government Accounts or at 800-247-9252 for Direct accounts; or 2) you can email mobile_support@dell.com. If you do choose to email, make certain to include a brief description of your issue, with your service tag and the troubleshooting steps you have followed.

Otherwise, you may wish to check the Dell Software and Accessories site - they are our Software and Peripherals Superstore and sell components from other vendors for our Dell systems, as well as Dell-branded parts and accessories.

how can i have this problem solved cause here in Nigeria we do not have the company that can help and if their are we still have to other the component and more so my laptop is not underwarrent so how can you guys help me out if it is somthing i can fix my self i would effect the repare i have the service maunal for the laptop i hope to read from you,

Here is the part number information  you requested:

LCD flex cable: 5854P
13.3" LG LCD: 5836T
13.3" SHARP LCD: 4867P
13.3" SAMSUNG LCD: 8854P
13.3" HITACHI LCD: 0866P

You should be able to order these parts from Dell US Spare Parts by calling 1-800-624-9896, select option 2, then 2, then 4, then 3.

 

It's possible that you have a faulty cable or maybe a lcd, The inverter will be fine as a white screen means the backlight is working..that is the only function of the inverter..Try the cable first..
