how can I remove the extra section on replacement battery (Latitude E6400)
Hi,
I bought a replacement battery for my E6400 thinking I could take it on long plane rides and swap it out if my regular battery wore out. The replacement battery has an extra rectangular section which makes it stick out of the laptop. Is there a way to remove that extra rectangular section?

Greetings,
My guess is you purchased a 9 cell (extended life) battery and previously had a 6 cell battery. If so, there is no way to remove that piece.
The good news is that the battery you got will have alonger life than the one you are replacing.

No, it's not a black palm rest area. The battery is installed in the back of the laptop, so the extra piece sticks out of the back and is the same color as the battery (silver).

Yes, you are right. (I didn't realize it was a different size and that it would extend beyond the profile of the laptop.)
