how do I stop automatic logoff to welcome screen after inactivity.

My Inspiron 1200 likes to send me to the welcome screen despite my current settings in Power Options. After 15 minutes (I think) of no activity the monitor turns off, when I touch the mousepad, the welcome screen pops up (eventually) on the display and prompts me to choose a user. When I do so I am back to where I left off before walking away. The problem is that waking the computer and logging back in can take more than 5 minutes!

This sounds like standby or hibernate, right? However, under Control Panel|Power Options are set to system standby: NEVER. Also I have not clicked the box to enable hibernation. I HAVE TRIPLE-CHECKED THESE SETTINGS!

I have found a few older threads where it sounds like others had the same problem, but found no solution.

I am hoping to find a setting I can change to stop my laptop from sending me to the welcome screen.
Please Help!
Thanks

You could try these steps:

From your Desktop-->Right Click on your Wallpaper--> Select the "Properties" Option--> Once the Display Properties pop up Choose the "Screen Saver" Tab--> Make sure the "On Resume, Password Protect" is not check-marked

If this does not work then you need to triple check your tabs under "Power Options" in your Control Panel.

Set your Power Scheme to "Always On" and under the the "Advanced" tab make sure nothing is check-marked.

Let me know how it goes
