how to turn off lcd screen

Question

i have an inspiron 1505 that i recently cracked the lcd screen and now have it hooked up to an external monitor. i believe i installed the ext monitor correctly and checked disable of the default monitor. but my laptop screen which looks like typedye still lights up. tried to find a button to turn it off. does anyone know how to do that

if you dont want the display to light up,you need to remove the lcd cable that connects to the motherboard,the cable can be found under the keyboard
