inspiron 5100 - synaptics touchpad software issue

Recently, my touch pad will no longer allow me to double tap and drag.  I checked the mouse settings under control panel and the check box next to that option was clear.  I checked the box, applied the settings and exited.  It worked fine.  Everytime I restart the system I have to do it all over again to be able to double tap and drag.  VERY ANNOYING!!  Please let me know if anyone has had this similar problem.  Everytime I go back to the mouse settings after I start the computer the double tap and drag check box is clear.

Thanks in advance!

I had a similar issue a good while ago, which I rectified by removing other mouse drivers I had installed, and then reinstalled them.

If the above doesn't work, or isnt applicable, simply download new touchpad drivers, remove the old ones and reinstall with the new ones :)
