Hi trishbenton,
I am glad that you love your computer so much. You may try some more to see if resolves this resolves issue for you.
Try the following steps to change battery settings:
- Power of your computer.
- Disconnect all the external peripherals (any USB devices, printer or scanners) connected to your computer including AC adaptor and remove the battery.
- Press and hold the power button of your computer for 10-15 seconds to drain out the residual power.
- Release the power button.
- Insert the battery in and connect the AC adaptor.
- Power on the computer.
- Click on Windows logo on desktop.
- Type ‘Power Options’ in search bar above that.
- On the left you will see different options.
- Click on Battery Health Meter (BHM).
Note: In case you are not able to find the Battery Health Meter, proceed to next step to install Quickset.
- Click on tab ‘Battery Status’ as shown in image below:
- Uncheck the box that says “Turn off battery charging”.
- Click on the ‘Battery health’ tab to check battery health.
- Restart your computer.
- Check if the issue is fixed.
In case you are not able to find the battery health meter on your computer. You can install a quickset application on your computer from the link below:

Then check for battery health meter in power options.
In case the issue is still not fixed and battery charge is 10% or more than that, you can update the BIOS of your computer.

Call Dell and have the battery replaced under warranty.

Hi,
I have the Inspiron N4110. I am having the same issue, but mine is just out of warranty. So changing the battery will help? I love my Dell, but I am in school. Got to have one that can use on the go.
Thanks,
Trish
