Hi bradjguest,

I would like you to check the functionality of the keyboard in safe mode with networking.

Check in Safe Mode with Networking.

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Keep tapping F8 on the Dell Logo Screen.
  3. Once the computer enters Advanced Boot Option, select Safe Mode with Networking.
  4. Press Enter.

Check if the keys on the keyboard are doing the same thing in safe mode with networking.

Please reply with results and also include the system model and operating system installed in it.

Awaiting your response!

Hi Brad,

I would like you to check the physical appearance of the keys, check if the keys are stuck or not.

Also we can test the functionality of the keyboard using PC Checkup.

To run PC Checkup, click Start->All Programs->Dell Support Center. Click PC Checkup under Dell support Center. Select Custom Scan, and then run a test on the keyboard. The test asks you to press all the keys on the keyboard, check if the Ctrl, Capslock, Alt and Shift keys work.

If the keys are not working during the test, the keyboard needs to be replaced.

In case the system has active warranty, please private message the system service tag, contact number and registered owner’s name.
To private message, click on my user name and click start conversation.
