n5010 turns off automatically after few seconds.

My laptop n5010 suddenly  started showing blank screen , no beep . so i re flow it thinking it might be gpu problem. but after re-flow when i started laptop it shows dell logo , proceeds to window loading and automatically shuts down, same is noted when i goes to BIOS setting.
It is just opening for few settings.
I also put out CMOS battery and put back it again and then when I  power up laptop it is then showing RTC failure with no beep but only for when time after putting back CMOS . on second start it is again doing same , few seconds display and shuts down , no beep.
Kindly give me suggestion that is it CMOS problem or anything else.

Hi HARIS1788,

You could try reseating the memory modules - download the service manual - http://dell.to/1JdqgKu

Press and hold the fn key and power button to turn on the system and it should initiate the diags on the system. See if it generates any errors or any beeps as such.

Since you state that the system turns off while in BIOS as well, then I would suspect a hardware issue and the motherboard needs to be replaced.

If the system is still under warranty or for a paid service call, contact us via Twitter - @dellcares for faster communication.

Keep us updated.

Hi HARIS1788,

Apologies for delay in response.

Firstly, if the system turns off automatically while in diags - is not a good sign. As advised in my previous post, I would suspect a failing motherboard.

Yes, the CMOS battery would need to be replaced as well.

If you would like a paid service call, then contact us via Twitter as advised in my previous post.

If you would like to replace the parts yourself, then you could contact www.parts-people.com and order the parts through them.

Personally, I would suggest you to invest your money in a new machine than to repair an outdated model.

Let us know if you have any other queries.

I think dell will not admit that this model has motherboard and graphics problem. Replace your motherboard with Intel based graphics this will sort out your problem. I did the same thing. The part number is 0y6y56 will cost you around INR 6000/- You dont need to change any other thing with this Motherboard just take out processor ram from old and put that in the new motherboard.

Reflow is not good. Reballing be done to you and if you still do not go trying to replace the chip which you did reflow. www.onlaptop.ro find details on the blog section and search reballing vs reflow.
