BIOS status for AC = unknown means your laptop was unable to detect the AC adapter type.
This is clearly hardware issue and could point to the following
AC Adapter is not genuine Dell or damaged
MotherBoard / PowerBoard is faulty
Since you have already tried with another Adapter/Battery this most likely points to MotherBoard Failue.
Please reach out to Dell Technical Support for replacement of appropriate part, if your laptop is out of warranty then you would have to pay for the part and service.
If you have already changed the Battery and Adapter have you checked what the AC adapter status looks like in BIOS ?
Suggested Steps
Upgrade BIOS (If Available)
Re-install Dell Quickset from support.dell.com
If BIOS shows a good adapter, then you need to perform the second step, if not check if there is a BIOS upgrade. Else you would need to replace the power board.
1- ac adapter are genuine since there is dell word on the adapter
its already out of warranty, thats why i seek help. i plan to repair it myself. so i need to figure out which part is the problem. is it possible for u to guide me, step by step?
Sorry for my english. A question: When I plugg the ac adaptor in my mInspiron 1110, I can see that the icon on the toolbar starts charging for two seconds and after stops and It does not charge longer. Could be the problem in the battery?

If you've already tried a new adapter to no effect, replace the power board next.
www.parts-people.com/index.php
If that doesn't solve the problem, replace the mainboard.

Hi Alescobar,
Are you able to test the computer with a known good adapter? This should help you identify if the issue is with the adapter or the battery.
Do let me know how this goes.
Thanks
