i would like to know if it cause any issues to run for example a 130w adaptor that comes with a laptop through a docking station... instead of typically the compatible docking stations power supply which is sabout 180w...
i need to know this in the general sense as it the situation is encountered regularly when changing over laptops... it doesnt neccessarily just apply to one laptop and docking station configuration.
I would suggest you to use the adapter received with the docking station
If you are using a docking station that draws power from the laptop then it is advisable you use more wattage AC adapter. As AC adapter supplied by systems are to supply enough power to run the system and charge battery.
Also, if the system doesn't get enough power then it might crash the system or cause unexpected shutdowns which could lead to data loss.
