"Audio Service Is Not Working" - Error 1079
I have a Inspiron 15 3521 running Windows 8.1, 64 Bit. For reasons that I cannot understand, the Audio Icon appears in the system tray with the red circle and the 'X' through it. When hover over the icon a message appears saying, "The Audio Service Is Not Working".
I then go into Services and find that the Windows Audio Service is not running. I click 'Start' and the following error message appears:
'Error 1079. The account specified for this service is different for the account specified for other services running in the same process.'
So, the Audio Service is not running but, due to the error message above, I cannot start it. Can someone help out? Many thanks.
David

Hi David,
I would suggest you to run the Fixit tool from the link below for issue resolution.

Please let me know if this helps.

Ravi:
Thanks for your email. The MSFT FixIT tool you pointed me to did not work. The error message is, "This does not apply to your application or version" which appears to make sense as this fix does not appear to work with Win 8.1.
Any other ideas?
Cheers,
David

Hi David,
Set the service and any dependent services to run under the NT AUTHORITY\LocalService account for issue resolution.
1. Click Start, type "Services.msc” in the Search programs and files box, and then press ENTER,
2. Locate and double click the Windows audio service.
3. Click the Log On tab,
4. In the This account text box, type “NT AUTHORITY\LocalService”,
5. Set both Password fields blank,
6. Click Apply and then OK,
7. Restart the service.

Hi Ravi BC,
I have the very same issue with my Dell Inspiron 15z Laptop.
I tried the above solution but restart option is not enabled for me after clicking on Apply and OK.
I tried to start the Windows Audio service by clicking on start again.
It gives me an "Windows could not start the windows Audio Service on Local computer"
Error0x800706cc: The endpoint is a duplicate.
What should I do ...Please help me

I have the same laptop with the same problem! Only when I click on the sound icon at the bottom and click "troubleshoot sound problems" it shows that there is an issue with the Bluetooth audio drive (which I didn't even know I had on my laptop), then when I click search for further solutions, IT DOESN'T LOAD. My laptop freezes. It's so frustrating. I have had this laptop a year and have had this particular issue for about a month. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix it, please share!
