should I do a windows 10 clean install with 64 bit OS?

Recently I did a clean install of a windows 10 using the media creation tool (I upgraded to10 prior to the clean install and used my product key). I noticed that it installed a 32 bit OS of windows 10. I believe my laptop has a 64 based processor and I'm wondering if I should have installed a 64 bit windows operating system instead of the 32 bit. I also wanted to upgrade my RAM memory, which now 6GB (2.40 GB usable). I have two sticks of RAM, one with 4GB and one with 2GB.

My questions are:

Should I do another clean install with a 64 bit OS of 10?

Is my laptop capable of doing this?

What is the maximum amount of ram this laptop can hold?

Thank you!

I am listing the specs that I can find about my computer:

1. What is your Dell Model? Example: Dell Inspiron 3048

2. Right click the Start's button at the bottom left side of the page and then click System. Please post back the system type - 32 or 64bits)

My laptop is a Inspiron 15 5547

System type:        32-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

So it looks like my OS is 32-bit.

Should I do a clean install of Windows 10 with a 64-bit operating system?

An upgrade of 32-bit will always be 32-bit - you can't upgrade 32 to 64. You can indeed clean install 10-64 bit.

We can't tell you what the maximum RAM is without knowing what system model you have -- i.e., Inspiron 5521, N5110, etc.

The system will take up to 2X8G = 16 total, DDR3L memory -- yes, you'll want to replace the OS with the 64-bit version.

ok  good, thanks. I guess I'll do a clean install with a 64 bit OS and order two 8GB of RAM. I'm assuming that I should order Dell Ram or does it not make much difference?

Is there anything I need to find out about before I do a clean install of Windows 10 64bit? Should I look for new drivers to download etc.?
