what is the right driver for an External DVD R/RW, model PD01S by DELL?
Hello,
I'm updating my D400 Laptop with new drivers, and looking to download the right driver for an External DVD R/RW, model PD01S by DELL. In DELL's Drivers & Download site I found over 20 drivers.
Can you please help me to find out which is the right driver to download?
Thank you in advance -- Uri

You don't need to install drivers for DVD drives Uri - even external ones.
USB devices are 'plug and play' under XP and Vista.
That is to say - you just plug it in, and the OS will recognise the device, and install default drivers for it - after which you can use it as you would any other drive :emotion-5:

I have the same problem, Device Manager just keeps giving a Code 39 error. Hve tried uninstalling all the USB drivers and allowing windows XP to re-install them but still the same problem. It recognises the type of drive but just cannot load any drivers and therefore I cant access any CDs loaded.
Does anybody have any idea please before I throw machine back and get something else (not Dell)

Have done some further digging around and found this fix that worked:
