How to use Solutions Enabler Client/Server architecture to manage Symmetrix

Our customer want to use non-ECC SRM product to manage the performance of Symmetrix arrays. We know that EMC provides a SMI-S Provider to do this. But the EMC SMI-S Provider can only support Windows, Linux and Solaris platforms. Our customer can just use AIX and HP-UX to locally connect to the Symmetrix arrays. How can I handle this issue? I'm wondering if we can use the Solutions Enabler Client/Server infrastructure to enable the solution. That is, Symmetrix Array -> SYMCLI Server (on AIX) -> SYMCLI Client + SMI-S Provider (on Linux) -> SRM Product. The question is that can the SMI-S Provider be communicated with the SYMCLI Client installed on the same host? Any comments would be highly appreciated.

I did a not-so-brief search and didn't find anything that directly answered the question posed. Saying this, mine is a mainframe S/E support perspective and I'm outside my realm of expertise here. I consulted a known good guy here and he recommended we open a service request for this.

I try to avoid this unless we really need to do it but this issue appears to be a bit more complex than expected. He recommends you open the service request and request it be directed to the OSAPI UNIX support group.

If you wouldn't mind, let us know if/when you open an SR.
