Thanks very much for the info!  I will definitely look into as that is new info to me.

In regards to the versions, I understand that I can get the latest and greatest, but my concern (possibly unwarranted) is that I'm sure some of my existing hosts have old(er) versions already.  If I were to install the latest and greatest, do I have to be concerned about my microcode level (5671.65)?  If yes, will my existing hosts have to be upgraded to accomodate a newer microcode?

I understand that eventually these will all need to be upgraded, but many may be phased out so if I can get a version of Solutions Enabler, Timefinder, etc that is compatible with my current microcode and SQL 2008 and Windows 2008, that would be best for my testing/proof of concept.  If not, then it becomes a whole different project of upgrading virtually everything...

Best Regards.

sure, before you upgrade you always want to verify your configuration is supported, for that i use E-Lab Navigator. It lets you select different components of your infrastructure and see what versions of X is compatible with Y.

you have not mentioned this but i'll bring it up anyway. Make sure correct flags are set on FAs, you can either set them on the FAs or via hba_flag masking command.  Also if you are going to use clustering on windows 2008 you will need to enable scsi3 persistent reservation. Take a look at this thread for more info:

As far as Solutions Enabler/PowerPath concerned ..i always go for the latest and greatest.

Sorry for not providing enough info but I would actually like to know for both - although most likely these will be clustered.

Thank you.
