If using DIA to create the unattend.xml file, it is recommended to edit the unattend.xml and delete the entire oobeSystem pass, so that it does not interfere w/ Auotpilot. You can create the unattend.xml in DIA from the "Direct Tool Links" then "Unattend.xml Creator". Remove it from the c:\windows\panther folder. Remove the OOBE section (from and including Settings pass=oobeSystem to and including settings which is just past "registered owner name" then when running DIA "guide me" import the new unattend.xml.
While this process does work for some individuals, we have also had others experience some issues post deployment. Please note Dell cannot support this work around working in all circumstances.
I know this thread is years old but I am now attempting to do this with the unattend file but I cannot get it to work when trying to capture the image....it keeps failing at the "Unattend File" check.
If you recall where exactly you edited the unattend I would appreciate your assistance

I had the same problem. This solved it for me.
Thanks!

Dell's Ready Image is the recommended & preferred solution for Autopilot. More at the following URL

I'm having issues using image assist full stop.
I'm guessing you can't use it from a network share
as soon as the capture process starts it breaks the tool and it needs to be extracted fresh from the zip folder.
I also don't know if it is ok to create the ISO to a network share instead of the C drive
looking forward to testing the customisations to the unattend file as soon as I can complete a capture
