Add on RAM for Inspiron 3477 AIO

Hi, my 3477 is slow and a Dell guy told me that the 4gb of RAM is barely enough, due to Windows 10. I'd like to buy add on RAM, but after multiple attempts, cant identify which Dell RAM to buy.

If my pc has sufficient slots, I'll buy another 4gb; or if it has only one slot (as I supsect), I'll buy 8gb.

Can anyone give some advice please?

The 3477 Aio has 2 ram slots and can support up to 16 GB split in 2 8GB sticks. You will need DDR4 ram preferably clocked at 2133mhz if you are just going to add another 4GB as the Ram will always run at the slowest ram sticks speed. Hope this helped

You will need to by SO-DIMM OR ELSE IT WILL NOT FIT

Thank you Idkwhattoputhere1.

You were more helpful than Dell were.

The slow performance is now resolved with 2 x 8gb cards for $100 and the PC is running like it should have from the beginning.

Which size or type of SO-DIMM for my DELL Inspiron 3477 IOx64?

  • 100-pin SO-DIMMs (SDR SDRAM) have two notches.[3]
  • 144-pin SO-DIMMs (SDR SDRAM) have a single notch near the center.[4]
  • 200-pin SO-DIMMs (DDR SDRAM or DDR2 SDRAM) have a single notch nearer to one side.[5] The exact location of this notch varies (read below).
  • 204-pin SO-DIMMs (DDR3 SDRAM) have a single notch closer to the center than on 200-pin SO-DIMMs.[6]
  • 260-pin SO-DIMMs (DDR4 SDRAM), 69.6 mm (2.74 inches) wide and 30 mm (1.2 inches) high, making them 2 mm (0.079 inches) wider than DDR3 SO-DIMMs, with a single notch after pin 144.[7]
  • 260-pin SO-DIMMs

Please advise...
