Dimension 3100c  is too old and DOES NOT meet Bare Minimum system requirements.

It also DOES NOT HAVE F12 usb booting.

Models from 2006 and newer with Pentium D 915 to 960 or newer work with 10.  Older models do not support NX or LAHF SAHF CMPXCHG instructions and therefore will not run windows 8.1 or 10.

Ubuntu would work on this model as would puppy linux 5 etc if you have at least 2 gigs of ram.  4gigs is preferred.

sell it , buy a dell 9020MT and use that. spend money on things that have a future and this PC has no value now.

zero.

I wouldn't say it has no value.

It has value if Linux can be installed and can run on it. Linux is a much more secure OS than Windows.

I mostly use Linux these days.

I know what they wrote. I can read.

I am simply offering him/her an alternative that he may not have considered before.
