Inspiron 3647, compatible with i5-4690 Canyon CPU?
Hello, I have been doing some major upgrades to my Inspiron 3647 including a new Case (Generic mATX case), Power Supply (EVGA 450BT), Graphics card (GTX 1070). I now want to upgrade the CPU. I see that the i7-4790 is compatible because it shipped with one as a higher configuration than my i3-4170. But a i5-4690 is about the same, but much cheaper in price compared to the i7-4790. The only problem is that even though the socket is correct, the i5-4690 is from Canyon (AKA Haswell Refresh) and never shipped with my Dell in any configuration. While the i7-4790 is from Haswell and was an option for my computer. Does anyone know if there is a way I can confirm compatibility?

Haha, I guess I’m not allowed to use the official name of the Haswell Refresh.

how did you installed the graphic card? does you your power supply has power cord for graphic card or did you also replaced power supply?

The Haswell "refresh" CPU were never tested/validated by Dell on this 2013 model. You will simply have to test it and post the results.
