Inspiron 3670, Intel driver update will not install
Pertinent computer:
Dell Inspiron 3670 desktop.
Problem statement:
A Dell "recommended" driver update - Intel HD Graphics Driver (version 23.20.16.5017, A02) - repeatedly fails to install. This is true regardless of whether I use Dell's SupportAssist utility or Dell's Support for Inspiron 3670 website <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>. In the latter case, (1) the downloaded executable file is named Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver_6H3H5_WIN_23.20.16.5017_A02.EXE and (2) I receive an error message that says in part "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer."

RoHe,
Thanks for you reply. I just saw your message. I had mistakenly thought that the Dell Community would email if someone replied to my message. I apparently had my settings set incorrectly and that did not happen.
Here is what I learned
<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>. That page, which spoke of the Intel 6H3H5 driver, has now been removed from the dell website.
"The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer."
is correct
Basically you are right. Thanks.

The links you posted include your Service Tag, so you should remove the links asap. Always treat the Service Tag as personal, confidential info and never expose it in an open forum like this.
I see a driver for Intel HD Graphics Driver, v23.20.16.4973, A01 listed at the link you provided. So it seems they may have pulled v23.20.16.5017, A02. And you should be running A01.
Save yourself lots of grief and either disable or uninstall SupportAssist. Just check the support page for your system manually, from time to time. And unless an update lists a fix for a problem you actually have and/or is a security (eg Intel microcode) update, you can probably skip it.

Neglected to answer your other questions. I believe only a moderator can change your user name.
I thought you could change email address and password, but I don't find those options either. So maybe only a moderator can do that too..?

Dell considers a Service Tag to be personal info and posting personal info is a violation of the forum's terms of use. A Service Tag has the potential to reveal whatever personal info is associated with your Dell account.
Nothing you can do about it now. Most peeps probably didn't notice the tag in your links, unless they clicked them so don't obsess about it. Just be careful not to share your Service Tag with anyone other than a known Dell employee, eg, only when you initiate contact with Dell Tech Support.

That means the update is not for your configuration or you already have it. You might have updated the operating system or made other changes. Installing an incorrect driver could be damaging. Just skip it.
All the listed drivers are not recommended drivers, just drivers available for all configurations of your model in case you need to reinstall. Device Manager has all your hardware and drivers listed.

Exactly what version Intel Graphics driver is currently installed now? Is it the same version you're being offered now?
In another thread for a different PC model, the user got a popup notice to update the Intel Graphics driver, but he got the same error message you did. In that case, he already had the exact same driver version installed as being offered as an "update".
So maybe the error message you got should actually say "latest driver already installed...??

RoHe,
Thanks for your reply. I shall follow your instructions.
A question: I was aware of and gave some thought to the issue of revealing my service tag number. I concluded (apparently incorrectly) that no harm would accrue if I were to reveal it. Could you explain how a malevolent person could harm me if they were to know my service tag number? It isn't obvious to me. Should I do anything now that possibly someone might know my service tag number?
Incidentally, as long as I have your attention ...
I am somewhat befuddled by this forum. How do I simple things like: (a) change my password, (b) change my email address, and (c) change my screen name. I've looked in "My Profile," "My Settings," and "Help" and haven't found the answer?
Thanks again.

Thanks again.
I edited my previous message, but probably after you viewed it. In it I posed the following question ...
