Inspiron 3847, Nvidia GT 1030 compatible?

Hello,

I've tried to replace my Inspiron 3847 graphics card (Nvidia 705) with a newly purchased Nvidia GT 1030 but the computer refuses to start and no signal is received in the monitor (HDMI or VGA connections).

The seller states that some brands, Dell among them, modify the BIOS to prevent such changes. I've updated the BIOS at the latest level and I'm still unable to work.

Is there any compatibility problem? Should I modify any BIOS option?

Thanks in advance.

The 3847 is a machine with UEFI Secure Boot Bios.

The GT 1030 works fine when it comes from Dell.

If its a retail PNY card then Secure Boot must be OFF and Legacy Option Roms Enabled.

This system DOES NOT SUPPORT using the HDMI or VGA onboard when the GT1030 is installed in the X16 slot.

The problem was in the BIOS option, should be Legacy=ON and SecureBoot=OFF.

I've followed your instructions and it worked like a charm.

Thank you very much.
