Tried all of the above with every combination of arrangement with the 2 new RAM module and the 2 slots. Every time it failed to boot (4 yellow flashes on the power button). My installation procedure was the exact same every time, including the final time of replacing the original module. Is it that common that both modules were DOA or is it more likely I and Crucial were wrong in compatibility?
Did you use a fresh battery, and is it correctly seated in the socket, with right-side-up?
Are you saying you put the original Dell RAM module back and it still won't boot?
If it won't even boot with only Dell RAM installed, something may have happened to your PC. First thing to do, with original Dell RAM installed, is run the PSU BIST test using the instructions "How to run self-test using the button on the PSU". The test button is near bottom on back of PC, under power cord socket, next to the PSU LED.
Assuming the PSU passes BIST, remove all RAM and try to boot now. Do you hear beeps from inside the tower? Do still get 4 blinks or only 2 blinks now..?

Did you confirm the modules you got are the ones you ordered..?
Did you try clearing BIOS after installing the new RAM?
If that doesn't help, repeat the steps above, but this time test them one at a time in 2nd slot from CPU...

Apologies on being vague. The original Dell ram works just fine, in either slot, and the system boots with the original ram.
The battery is seated just like it was before, proper orientation. It was not a new battery though.
