Inspiron 580, Windows 10, chipset driver problems

I have an inspiron 580 that i plan to use as a home theater pc. I installed windows 10 x64 and the chipset, ethernet and integrated video drivers do nothing. the pci, pcie x1 and pcie x16 slots on the motherboard do nothing either. the leds on both the ethernet port and my network switch aren't lighting up as well. I'm leaning to it being a dead motherboard but any other suggestions are appreciated! The system also will not stay off. I tried updating bios, clearing cmos and replacing cmos battery but all don't work. the system does boot into windows, however with the problem i stated earlier. Any ideas?

thecomputergeek95,

Unfortunately, Dell does not support Windows 10 on this computer. There are no Windows 10 drivers available to download. You may want to put Windows 7 back on the system.

Although Windows 10 is not supported it works fine.

You will have to install 32 bit or 64 bit drivers that are VISTA/WIN7

 There are 2 Models

Chipset will never have 10 drivers which is why you need to manually install the Vista/Win7 Drivers.

The thing is that i tried windows 7 but still didn't work. the drivers install fine, they just don't do anything. I think it's a hardware problem like the motherboard or bios not working properly. Thanks for the suggestion though!

And I have the tower version, not the slimline.

I tried the drivers from intel's site. they didn't work. The machine won't post with a graphics card so i think the motherboard is somewhat dead.

Have you tried the Intel driver site?  No guarantee that it will get you what you need but worth a try.  In most cases, if the hardware is Win 10 compatible, Windows will install needed drivers including chipset.  On PC sound, Windows will install the generic "High Definition Audio" drivers if no vendor hardware driver is available.  The last Win 10 install I did (it was on a Win 10 compatible laptop) Windows installed all the needed drivers.  I didn't have to manually install anything.

I guess you have to replace the motherboard for the 580.  part number of the board is C2KJT.

as for my relative's Inspiron 580, I did try out Windows 10 v1607 more than a year ago and it was okay after upgrading from Win7 SP1.  But I rolled back to Win7 SP1 due to some old applications not working in Win10 that have worked in Win7.  I may upgrade it to Win10 in early 2019.

I just bough a $10 USB to Ethernet adapter from Amazon and it works perfectly! Still, the integrated Ethernet controller, PCI, and PCI-E slots don't work, but I don't use them in this machine. I run Windows 10 1803 (Like all of my computers) and it woks great as a YouTube/Spotify/media computer.
