Inspiron One 2330, POST issue, #2

If you're using a surge protector or power strip, remove those and connect PC directly to a working outlet and see if it boots with only keyboard and mouse plugged in.

That other user replaced the PSU and still had the same problem, which probably says it's not the power supply, at least in his case...

Did you clear BIOS by removing the motherboard battery, pressing/holding the power button for ~30 sec and then installing a fresh battery?

If you pull out all RAM and try to boot, do you get 2 beeps? If not, motherboard failure. And assuming it beeps, when you put RAM back in, does PC boot normally like it does for that other user?

New PSU did not solve the problem. I have settle for using it as a 30 pound monitor. As the other posters have stated, the monitor function works just fine. I find it strange that so many of us have had the same problem but no one can find what the universal issue is for what seems to be the exact same problem. It seems simple enough. When installing a Windows 10 update it borks. Must be something in the bios or something that resetting the CMOS does not fix. I was not having any problems prior to the install. No over heating, no shut downs, no blue screens nothing that would suggest an inevitable problem Perhaps the continuous rebooting and turning on and off during the update caused a component failure. 

best is never to assume others problems are your PC's problem, ok?

I have no idea what your symptoms are (just yours and yours alone) why not post those. fully.

are the fans dead.,

power lamp on power button dead and out.

a power problem is not the same as POST problem, they are 2 worlds apart.

Is the screen good?  is the screen 100% dead, at all time.

no beeps

no flashing LED, zero , response to power button?

this is first. in all diagnose, ALL EVIDENCE good and bad, needs to be told,  we are blind so unblind the helper.

using only your facts, on your PC. please.

one bad thing about AIO PC, is spares are not just laying around ready to try and find like real desktops are.

It is like Laptop with no huge battery inside.

btw did you check the RTC coin cell bettery first? this is first things first rule.

the RTC is now 7 years old,  and is max (says both pink battery maker and copper top too and intel.com)

see page 108 in our manual on RTC servicing. dell.com your PC by name and number model above.

and OMG a $1 cure.  (million fail every day)

Are you saying it works when you connect a video source (a PC, xbox, etc) to the HDMI-IN port on the 2330? Have you tried cycling the Input-source selection/Display-off button on the right edge of the screen, above the power button to see if it's just set to use the wrong HDMI source?

Did you try removing the RAM, powering on, getting 2 beeps, powering off and reinstalling the RAM which worked for the other user? If that works for you too, you could try leaving the PC on 24/7 with Sleep and Hibernation disabled and Windows set only to turn off the drive and screen after X min.  Might be worth a try...

Yes, I have tried all of the solutions including the memory issue. Again, nothing happens other than the fans coming on, and one blink from the hard drive indicator light. No other booting activity. So, I can do nothing with "setting hibernation" etc. I don't have any post, any logo, any drive activity, nothing but the monitor lighting up (back ground until source applied and then it works with monitor). And yes, each time I turn it on now (I took out the hard drive and memory sticks) it "beeps" for no memory until I select HDMI in and use it as a monitor. 

It appears the processor is never engaged at this point upon power up.

What happens if you try booting from a bootable USB stick? Connect the stick to the PC before powering on. Then power on and immediately tap F12. Assuming you can see the menu, select the option to boot from USB...

If you need to create a bootable USB, you can use Rufus (free).

The issue is black screen of death crash due to failing hard drive. Given the age of the system this is not a surprise.

I tried that. Nothing happens with F12. Tried to boot from usb recovery thump drive I made previously for this purpose.

I tried swapping in an SSD from a laptop that works fine. Still no go.

Later today to reply to the previous generous poster, I will go through all the symptoms and trouble shooting I have done. Thanks all

Turn on machine. Power button light white. Starts and stops two times. Then it Stays on with one pulse of hard drive light then white power button on, no hard drive activity (fans all work with old and new PSU) faint back light on monitor for two minutes then it shuts off. Tried cycling to various input modes.. that works and as stated running input to HDMI in produces a great 23 inch monitor picture of connected laptop.

Did the memory pull trick (after replacing cmos battery) and I get the beep with no sticks and no fix with either one or both sticks installed. Tried putting a ssd drive out of working laptop as replacement for installed drive same results (the drive from the Dell works fine when removed and hooked up via sata adapter to usb on laptop.... copied all important files that way already)

Replaced PSU, same results.  

I wonder if it is related to this problem? Maybe it can't find either one of it's video cards ?

Also, I wonder if you might have received an (unintentional) BIOS update for motherboard, and it went badly?  

Leave it unplugged with the CMOS battery removed for a few days. If MB won't post then, sounds like it is bricked or malfunctioning. 

Yes, these got some pretty slow hard-drives, so if it ever works again ... a SSD is a good idea.
