Intel® vPro™ Platform CPU with Non-vPro Motherboard?
Hi,
I was searching to upgrade my CPU. I found one that has the same specification has my current one but supports Intel® vPro™ Platform. I found out what is it, but I can't find whether you can mismatch them. My motherboard, as far as I know might not support it. My question is,
Can you use an Intel® vPro™ CPU on a non-vPro motherboard?
To clarify, I do not want to use vPro technology. I just want to use it as a regular CPU. I am wondering with my motherboard still boot up with this CPU. I couldn't find anything on tech forums, intel, or dell website regarding this. My Desktop is Dell Inspiron 660s. It has an Intel® Core™ i5-3330S Processor and I am trying to upgrade it with Intel® Core™ i5-3550S Processor.

Have you read this thread, specifically the post by WesWesYAll about the 660s at the bottom of page 1?

If you use vpro processor nothing will happen cause vpro processor has only vpro enabled technology and when you use it on normal mother it will definitely run fine
