I see in the call log that you are working with one of our support team and that they have scheduled a call with you tomorrow between 2 and 4 pm (pst). Please continue working with the team and I will be monitoring the case.
Thanks. Yes I am waiting for her call back. But she seems only to read from a script. I tried to tell her about the blinking pattern and she doesn't want to hear it. She wants me to do the hardware diagnostic test - which I have already done on my own several times and it finds no problems. I have an IT background I have worked as a systems analyst and a network analyst, so I can tell when someone does not know what they are doing and this girl from Dell does not. She kept telling me to update Windows drivers. I told her that Windows drivers would have nothing to do with this problem because this is a pre-POST issue but she wasn't hearing me. The Bios I believe is the newest version (2.3.1) What I really want to know from Dell is what the amber light pattern of 1 flash - pause - 3 flashes means?
I see that service was set up on Aug 23, 2019 to return the computer to Dell for repairs. The DPS 715988677
The diagnostic indicators on the system are listed below and the possible problem that they relate to.
Amber Blinking Pattern 2,1 System board System board failure 2,2 System board, PSU, or cabling System board, PSU, or cabling failure 2,3 System board, memory, CPU System board, memory, or cabling failure 2,4 CMOS (coin-cell) battery Coin-cell battery failure 2,5 BIOS Coorupt BIOS. Recovery image is not found or is invalid during auto BIOS recovery process 2,6 CPU CPU configuration error or CPU failure 2,7 Memory Memory failure 3,1 PCI/video PCI or video card/chip failure 3,2 Storage/USB Storage and USB cofiguration error or failure 3,3 Memory No memory detected 3,4 System board System board error 3,5 Memory Memory configuration error, incompatible memory, or invalid memory configuration 3,6 BIOS Recovery image not found 3,7 BIOS Recovery image found but invalid
I have the same problem on my new Dell Inspiron 3671 that I just purchased. I've called Dell twice and not once has anyone suggested it could be anything related to power supply. Instead they have updated bios and other system, changed settings and it still does the same thing but not constantly. Now they want me to buy an 8 gig thumb drive and download my data and send the tower back to them to reload windows. I don't see how this will help and I will have to start from scratch on this computer. Can anyone offer a suggestion? I've always bought Dell but this will be my last Dell purchase if they can't resolve this without me losing everything.

no inspiron model stated, but sure new. what eva.
did you hold the power button for 10seconds and release, to maybe unlatch or end stuck sleep-modes
are the fans dead,? is the screen dead, 100% if fans work? evidence all is best, not just 1,3 codes
here is your code page (post errors) yes, OEM 1st Tier support is horrible. no matter WHO's,
Like a the doctors, the first nurse asks, how is the water works, and only your right toe seems broken.
did you see this jewel.?

no beeping
no LCD logos of any kind, no LCD text of any kind
there are 2 post error, presentations on dells, the silly power lamp blinks and the hidden LED codes
that show up on mine behind black plastic front panel, folks dont know they are there until they WAKE UP.
i cant find this hidden LED page in the POST error pages, like all mine have,
but on this dell list it would be no power status.

I'd do power failures tests, (even full strip down to find it) but this PC is inwarrany.
and power failures are hands on repairs, ok? one can not login to a dead PC remotely.
the hard power resets can cure this, and if kids played with it, even BIOS can be corrupted.
the thing about drivers , learn that wrong or corrupted drivers DO IN FACT cause sleep to fail even LOCK UP.
or hibernate or any of the other similar power saving modes.
but the hard reset undoes that, and other causes. (minor lightening hits, ESD events and more)
ANSWERING FOR DEAD POWER, AND A 1,3 CODE.
