Invalid WinFlash parameters error

Dell Support is showing that the following driver update is to be installed:

Inspiron 3646 System BIOS version 4.57

However, when you click Install, it produces an error message "Invalid WinFlash parameters".  The only option is to click cancel.

Is there something wrong with the update itself?  Is there something that I need to do on the system for it to run?

Since this is the BIOS, it seems like it could go really wrong.

Just to say I'm having same problem tried searching for others with it you're the first I've seen... I agree I don't want to fowl up my currently working system!

I have this same problem, but with the error message "Error Invalid WinFlash parameters". My current BIOS is A08 and the update seems to be for A10.

I don't know what I did right this time, but after trying to update from my computer notification prompt 4 or 5 times, from the dell, com support website three or four times and the supportassist app twice, the supportassist attempt worked on the third attempt.

MAYBE it was that I did it entirely within supportassist. I think my earlier attempts triggered the dell notification and I responded to that instead of staying within supportassist. Who knows?
