5584 Windows USB recovery?

Hi - My 12 month old laptop crashed while doing a windows update. I’m now in the “preparing auto repair” black screen loop. Here’s what I’ve done so far..

1. F12 to one time boot menu.

2. Ran diags. No errors all good.

3. On another pc, went to dell website and created the recoverable windows USB for my service tag.
4. inserted USB in broken laptop. Selected USB as boot option. Still only get the dell logo black screen loop.

5. Tried creating Windows recovery USB with Rufus. Still black screen loop.

I’ve read a might need to disable secure boot or make some other changes in the bios for the usb to work? Note, in the boot options it says UEFI only, legacy boot is not an option on this device.

Any suggestions on how to get to the Recovery USB to work and at least get be to a blue screen so I can repair windows?

Thanks

I did create the windows recovery USB with Rufus too (after I tried the dell USB recovery tool)

partition scheme GPT. Target system UEFI. File system FAT32.

I set the usb as the boot device and i still only get the black screen dell logo loop when I try it.

I have laptops that are not UEFI-only.

You'll have to look for a Youtube video that shows you how to boot into the USB flash drive. I am afraid I can't help you further.

You need to create a bootable USB with Rufus on another PC.
